Tom started mountain biking in Nisene Marks State Park in 1990, but didn’t compete in his first mountain bike race until moving to Reno in 1999. After becoming a semi-professional mountain biker, Tom turned towards new challenges, road racing. In 2002, Tom went from being a Category 5 racer at the beginning of the season to a Category 2 racer by the end of the season, winning the Senior 3 Cal Cup in that same year (1st place in Winters and San Ardo Road Races). After battling injury and graduate school, Tom joined TeamSpine in 2005 where he discovered the pleasures that could be derived from hard work, team unity, camaraderie and the execution of common goals. Tom now resides in Monterey, CA and is looking forward to an exhausting, but fun-filled 2010 season.
